Releasing two early singles ‘Country Girl (Shake It For Me)’ and ‘I Don’t Want This Night To End’, Luke Bryan soared his way into the top 20 on ITunes with both singles. He is becoming increasingly popular in the country music industry and with the release of his new album ‘Tailgates and Tanlines’; Bryan’s music reputation is continuing to grow.
Bryan planned to move to Nashville, TN shortly after his high school graduation. Supported by his family and friends, he was getting ready for the move when a catastrophe occurred. His older brother, Chris, Bryan’s biggest fan and best friend was killed in a car accident the exact same day Bryan was supposed to leave town. Bryan found his escape in music and songwriting, where he was able to release his emotions and grief in a healthy way. He soon recorded the first album with 10 songs, nine of which he had written.
On Bryan’s latest album, his lyrics can’t necessarily be interpreted in multiple ways like some complex lyrical artists, but his lyrics seem to relate to a large audience. All of the songs on the album have to do with love or individuality, two aspects of life nearly every person experiences, which makes his songs relatable to many.
He covers nearly every aspect of love: new love, lasting love, and heartbreak. Bryan’s allows himself to get more emotional in the song ‘Been There Done That” where he addresses how one shouldn’t change themselves to impress a significant other. “I can only change who I am so much/ and all I can give is all my love. Bryan continues the lyric when he deepens his voice and with emphasis on the word ‘never’, powerfully sings ‘and my love ain’t never been enough/ so I ain’t coming back/ I’ve been there done that.”
‘Country Girl (Shake It For Me)’ acknowledges that Bryan does not want to only discuss the trifles of life, but also shows he is a country singer who enjoys his genre of music and likes to have fun. ‘Tailgates and Tanlines’ shows how well rounded and skilled Bryan is at balancing the important parts of life. He is married, a father of two, and continues to thrive in his career.
It is obvious that with Conway Twitty, Alan Jackson, Alabama, and George Strait as Bryan’s’ influences his southern and country roots are driven into his music and lyrics. Bryan is married, a father of two, and routinely donates to charity.
Being a huge fan of country music in general, I personally love Bryan’s Georgia ‘twang’ side of country as well as his deep side.
“You got your hands up/ you’re rocking in my truck/ you got the radio on/ you’re singin’ every song.” A small exert from Bryan’s song ‘I Don’t Want This Night to End’ shows Bryan’s playful, down to earth sense of style. Using his deep southern accent, witty lyrics, and an upbeat rhythm, ‘Tailgates and Tanlines’ makes for a five star album.
