Blazing banjos and unique melodies played by the somewhat new Folk Rock band, Mumford and Sons, is spreading across the nation with incredible speed. Originating in London, England, Marcus Mumford (lead vocal, guitarist, drums, and mandolin), Ben Lovett (vocals keyboard, and accordian), and Winston Marshall (banjo), bring energetic music to the stage in their performances, and connect with the audiences just as well as any band in the present day music world. Their new flavor to Folk Rock unleashes a flurry of anger, excitement, pain, and happiness all at once. With their new found success came with the year’s best album, Babel, at the 2013 Grammies. An array of songs including Babel (cover song), I Will Wait, Lover of the Light, and Hopeless Wanderer, gave Babel originality, creativity, and exceptional flavor.
Stated by Rolling Stones, Mumford and Sons compares to artists such as Noah and The Whale, Johnny Flynn, and Laura Marling, for whom Marcus Mumford used to drum. These Folk Rock prized artists are well deserved to be compared with Mumford and Sons. With modern day society, it is hard to find a brilliant rock band that has exceptional talent in instruments that very few on this earth can play with expertise. With all the talk about degrading women, and doing illegal activities, it’s about time that true talent has risen from the depths of the musical world. Rappers and hip hop artists need to take notes on Mumford and Sons, or they should just quit because they are embarrassing themselves.
Critics have been driven nuts by Mumford and Sons, no surprise of course. The believe Mumford and Sons to be out of their shallow roots and folkie pretensions (Greg Kot). This is ridiculous! Critics will give new rap albums, with disgusting talk about women and drugs and no talent whatsoever, great reviews. It’s time the world needs to focus a little more on the lyrics and the beautiful melodies of talented bands, which are so rare to find.
Their talent stretches what the average human can produce, and the only way to discover it is by plugging in your ipod or inserting their album into you CD player. Mumford and Sons is a music revolution that should be praised by anyone with a good taste of music.
