Spring is upon us, and summer is slowly inching its way over the horizon. Summer concerts and festivals have recently been announced; Mayhem Festival, Warped tour, and many other tours featuring huge headlining acts are coming to southeast Michigan.
Mayhem festival has become America’s premiere heavy metal summer tour over its 6-year existence. Last year’s tour, headlined by Slipknot, Motorhead, and Slayer, and supported by over 15 acts on 3 stages shattered previous year’s attendance records. This year’s lineup is headlined by Rob Zombie, Five Finger Death Punch, Mastadon, and Sweden’s heavy hitting Amon Amarth. 3 stages will support the headliners, featuring bands such as Motionless in White, Machine Head, and Michigan’s own Battlecross. Ticket prices range from $20 lawn tickets to $60 seats in the pavilion, and varied prices for VIP packages. Mayhem festival stops at the DTE music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan on July 28th.
Orion Festival is coming to the Motor City! Its first year was a smash hit in Atlanta, and it now happening on Belle isle, in Detroit. Orion Music Festival is headlined by the legendary Metallica. It is a 2-day festival, Jun. 8 and 9, with many diverse attractions, culminating in Metallica performing live both nights. The festival includes more than 30 bands, such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Deftones, Bassnectar, Datsik, Battlecross(again), The Dillinger Escape Plan, and many more. Tickets are $150 for General admission.
Vans Warped Tour returns this year with a lineup boasting more then 40 bands. The Tour is headlined by The Black Dahlia Murder and supported by acts such as Memphis May Fire, Sleeping with Sirens, Black Veil Brides, and Bring Me the Horizon. The nationwide tour stops at The Palace of Auburn Hills on July 19th. Tickets range from $40-80.
Other large artists are stopping in Michigan on tour throughout the summer. Comedian Daniel Tosh is visiting metro Detroit on June 8, and performing the following day in Lansing. King of the Mic, featuring LL Cool J, Ice Cube, and Public Enemy, are performing at the DTE music Theatre in Clarkston on June 26. Many other artists such as Beyonce, One Direction, Toby Keith, Bon Jovi, Rascal Flatts, and Fleetwood Mac are stopping in the area on summer tours. Tickets are on sale for almost all events.
