The Milford High School Vocal Music Program is proud to present POPS 2015: Rhythm of The Night on March 27th and 28th at 7 p.m. Both Center Stage and Choraleers will be performing on Friday and Saturday in the Center for Performing Arts.
This years show will feature music with many different genres. Broadway show tunes from Cabaret, The Wiz, 70 Girls 70, and Phantom of The Opera. Jazz and Rhythm songs are a huge part of the show. But it will also feature movie songs from Grease, Footloose and Hairspray. “This years theme is so fun” said junior Sammi Talieri. “I’m so excited for all these big dance numbers.” Talieri is a member of the Choraleers, who is finishing her second year in this program. “ This group has a great atmosphere and everybody really works as a team.” said Talieri. “I cannot wait to perform We go Together, the audience is going to love it.”
This years event will be something to remember. Many numbers will be featured from The Macomb Community College Show Choir camp that took place in August. This year there will also be many small, student a capella groups that will be performing. “I’m so excited to perform in front of people.” Senior Melvin Jackson commented. Melvin is a member of Center Stage, and was recently accepted into The Young Americans College, which is a performing arts college in California. “This group has helped me gain a better musical ability for for my future and I’m so grateful.”
Center Stage and Choraleers have been rehearsing for three months now. Many choreographers have come in to help out as well, including Andy Haines. Haines is a freelance choreographer who has put in more than 20 years in the show choir and pageant circuit. “Working with Andy was incredible,” said senior Caitlyn Anderson. She is also a Choraleer and finishing her first year in the group. “I’ve battled with stage fright, but he, along with many others, have pushed me to my full potential.” said Anderson. “ I am so excited for this show because it will be such a cool way to end my senior year:”
POPS is a great way for the Milford Music Program and the community to see all their hard work and dedication pay off. For the seniors, this is their last show. “I’m going to miss it. I wish I had started doing this program a long time ago” said Jackson. For the seniors who have gone through this program, it will be a bittersweet end.
If you miss out on POPS, Center Stage and Choraleers will both be putting on shows towards the end of the year, which are still TBA. To stay updated on dates and times for the next shows or to buy tickets to any show, head over to http://www.mhsperformingarts.com/
