Most anticipated movies of 2018

After a strong 2017 year of movies wind down and the winter season movies roll out, Hollywood looks to 2018 to bring in a bigger and better year to the theaters. While 2017 saw great releases like “Wonder Woman,” “Spider Man Homecoming,” “Logan,” and the surprise hit “Get Out”, there are still great Movies still to come in 2017 including Jackie Chan’s, “The Foreigner”, DC’s “The Justice League.” and The highly anticipated “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” Many sequels and continuations of franchises will roll out next year as studios hope to expand on previous year’s success, and many revivals and reboots to bring them to a new generation of movie lovers. Here is a look at the most interesting releases coming in 2018.
Avengers Infinity War
Year after year, Marvel studios releases another great film that makes millions of dollars and enters their acclaimed Marvel Cinematic Universe. Movies in their universe include, “Avengers,” “Guardians of the Galaxy,” and “Spider Man Homecoming.” “Infinity War” looks to include all these movies into one giant movie as they fight against their greatest foe, Thanos. Directed by the Russo brothers, this is the biggest Marvel movie yet and looks to be their biggest success and has the biggest star power of the 2018 year. “Avengers Infinity War” releases April 25 2018.
Han Solo a star wars story
After Disney purchased Lucas film and the rights to star wars in 2012 they promised to release a series of movies and other media relating to star wars in the coming years, this would include a main star wars movie every other year, which continued the series following episode 6 and a separate anthology film in between these movies, these anthology movies included last year’s “Rogue One”, the upcoming Han solo movie, and another unannounced movie. Not much is known about the specific plot details but “Han Solo a Star Wars Story” promises to tell the story of the famed smuggler before we meet him in episode 4, with many familiar characters but new stories explored. Han Solo is directed by Ron Howard and includes Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo and Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian and releases May 25, 2018
Incredibles 2
After the incredible success of “Incredibles”, Disney Pixar is finally releasing a sequels to their beloved 2003 classic, Fifteen years too late. Not much is known about the plot but many speculate it will pick up right where the last one left off with the Underminer emerging from the ground. The sequel promises to explore more into the family dynamic of a family with superpowers, All the characters we love are returning with all the same voice actors except for Dash, and many of the family fun is returning with the same message about family and responsibility. “Incredibles 2” releases June 15 2018.
Deadpool 2
After the surprise hit that was “Deadpool”, marvel worked quickly to make a sequel to the record breaking movie and cash in on the popularity of the movie. With returning star Ryan Reynolds playing “Deadpool”, Directed by David Leitch and brings in long time actor Josh Brolin as the antagonist for Ryan Reynolds. The exact release date is unknown but scheduled for 2018 and looks to bring all the laughs and craziness from the first movie.
Jurassic world 2 Fallen Kingdom
After the revival/reboot that was “Jurassic world”, a sequel was sure to be pumped out fast. After being one of the best box office and critical movies of its release year. Star Chris Pratt returns as the velociraptor damping dinosaur expert and looks to explore more into the weaponized dinosaur world that was teased in the first movie. After the semi ambiguous ending after they escape with the Dino DNA, the sequel looks to explore more into corporations and restrictions on the park. Jurassic world 2 releases June 22 2018.
The 2018 year is full of sequels to beloved movies and explorations into their respective universe. Many summer blockbusters are coming and this year looks great for movie lovers of all genres.
