It’s October which means Halloween is just around the corner.
For those who enjoy a good scare, there are many haunted attractions in the area that could satisfy even Milford’s toughest.
Some of the best known are Erebus, Panic at Proud Lake, Wiard’s Orchard, and Saint Lucifer’s.
Each has defining differences that separate them from each other.
Erebus
At 18 South Perry St. in Pontiac, step into a house of terror, where nightmares await and fears attack. For $23 at the door, or $40 for a no-waiting VIP pass, those brave enough venture into Erebus.
“The moment goes from one of slight tension to that of complete chaos,” explained The Oakland Post, “yet, the thrill and the fun of it all is worth making the heart work overtime.”
Erebus has been rated on the scare factor a high nine, on a scale of one to ten.
Because of the intenseness of what awaits inside, there is an age requirement of 13 or older to enter.
Panic at Proud Lake
Walk through miles of horror at Panic, 2776 Garden Rd, Milford.
Here, the price is only $12 dollars, a good deal for what it’s worth.
“I wouldn’t go with more than five people,” junior Karli Jenks explained, seeing as a big group would not fit into the canoe that takes guests from one side of the attraction to the other.
Karli also helped rate this a 5.5 on the scare factor. Panic thought it was important to know the following facts: the majority of it is outdoors, it is required that you pass through security, and volunteers are welcome and receive community service hours.
Wiard’s Orchard
In Ypsilanti, a group of haunted houses await at Wiard’s Orchard, for $32 at the door, or $40 dollars for a no-waiting, VIP pass.
The scare factor for these six houses has been rated a high 9 out ten. “…It consumes a large amount of time,” Stated Senior Gavin Long, “but you can come back with your ticket and go through whatever houses you missed.”
Gavin also estimated that when he went through all six, it took approximately three to four full hours.
With the price of a ticket, you also receive an exciting, free round of mini-golf. Children under 10 need an adult to accompany them.
Saint Lucifer’s
With a scare factor of 8, this haunted asylum is perfect for those who don’t like very scary, but also can handle moderate.
At 5290 S Dort Hwy Flint, Mi 48507 – 4438, and for $15 at the door, venture into this great building that used to house some of Michigan’s craziest mental patients.
Closed in the 70’s it was bought again to be used as a haunted house. You may have to wait outside, so Saint Lucifer’s suggests that you dress warm.
If you don’t want to wait, then you can get a VIP pass for $20 by calling in advance.
Out of a large number of people asked at the exit how it was, only two weren’t scared, the rest were horrified.
