The first Christmas lights went up in the 1800’s and now it is a tradition that is familiar to us all. Around the holidays you often see strands of lights on trees, houses, and bushes. Sometimes you even see a reindeer or Santa in the yard, but some people take holiday decorating to the extreme.
One of those people is Don York, a resident ofMilfordand Christmas decoration fanatic. His house onBurns Rd.always lights up in Dec. He has been decorating his house since 1989 and he said that he adds more every year. Once a year for the holiday seasonYorkfills his property with light up decorations of all sorts, some are inflatable, some are strands of lights and some fill the air with Christmas music. Also the inside of his house is just as magical as the outside. This house could definitely be compared to Bronner’s.
The next house is in Commerce, the lights can be seen from the road and from the glimpse you get, you just want to turn down the road and see the spectacular light show. The house and surrounding yard are filled to the brim with decorations; also you can hear Christmas music floating around in the air. The house always has so many visitors that the residents don’t even answer the door now. But as you pass by, there is always someone staring at the marvel that is onBobolink Avenue.
Next is a house inWhiteLake. It is a two story house with light up reindeer grazing in their yard and little kid eyes gazing out the windows. As you pass downAllingham Avenue, your eyes are drawn to the lights on either side of the street but the one seen here really draws your attention. The house, the trees, and the lawn have lights and characters strewn about and it captures part of the Christmas spirit.
