While April showers bring May flowers, most seniors at MilfordHigh Schoolavoid the rainy days and get a head start to their warm weather days. Within the past decade senior organized spring break trips have become tradition across the nation. In a sense it’s seen as the graduating class’ last hoorah together before parting ways the following year.
The idea of a spring break paradise getaway is appealing to senior classes in states with not exactly desirable April weather conditions. Certain locations become popular destinations for each school’s senior class year by year, becoming in ways a form of passed down tradition.
At Milford High School there are multiple booked destinations for the graduating class of 2013, but what makes each special in their own way, and what does each of these locations have to offer?
“It gets harder and harder to go to school each day knowing the trip is so close” Says 17 year old senior Caitlyn Key, “It’s something we’ve been anticipating since our freshman year.” Caitlyn is accompanied by her three friends, as well as multiple small groups traveling toPanama City BeachFloridathis spring break.
Panama CityBeachhas become a popular party spot for spring break vacationers over the past decade. The constant upbeat atmosphere makes it an all day and through the night party. It’s a common destination choice amongst the senior class of 2013 being it’s manageable driving distance.
“Going out of the country sounds awesome, but I feel like we’ll have just as much fun in the states” said 17 year old Jarred Jackson in regards to his spring break destination choice, “We pickedPanama CityBeachwith a group of about five because it was easier, but will still be a blast.”
For some seniors of the graduating class of 2013 a month in advance booked vacation can serve as an ideal paradise getaway, yet others took a different route. “We knew since our freshman year we’d end up in Punta” stated senior Nicole Kovach “It took a lot of work, between booking a year in advance and such, but it’s going to be a blast.” Nicole is joined by a group of over forty seniors atMilfordHigh Schooltraveling to the Dominican Republic staying at an all inclusive resort in Punta Cana.
“It was really expensive, and I had to pay for mine, but I feel like that will make it more worth it,” Said senior Tawney Olari, regarding her trip this year to Punta Cana. For some seniors their idea of paradise can be viewed as completely different. For one senior boy, his ideal vacation consists of fly fishing, backpacking, and snowboarding. “For less than half the price of the Punta Cana trip I’m able to do what I love.” said 18 year old senior Kevin Bufe, who’s traveling alone to visit a friend inDenver Colorado.
From coast to coast, the mountains in between, even neighboring continents, a senior spring break trip has become a tradition atMilfordHigh School. With the common goal in mind of experiencing paradise with your friends in what may be your last chance to do so. The destinations vary because ideas of paradise vary, but the experience is equally as rewarding.
