Very rarely do you ever hear the opinion of the people who bring you the news.
In fact, you almost never hear anything from these people, but needed information, and upcoming events.
Many people have questions including; how to get into this group, what it’s like, and where’d it come from.The Milford Broadcasting is an elective class.
This class can be joined by anyone. The class is generally made of only 16 students, most consisting of seniors and juniors. This class is taught by the English teacher and Drama director Megan Weeks.
Weeks said she loves the broadcasting class.
“The chance to work with the students one on one is what I like most,” she said.
This class is held in the interactive room on the left side of the main hallway across from Student Services.
In this class, students will learn to report on convey news.
Also, how to work in news crew and set up even if students are not on camera, the class is very hands on. This class is given there news to report from coaches, teachers, and administration to convey important information.
The Broadcasters switch off roles on reporting on different sections of the news.
Many students in this class find it exciting and fun.Senior Abby Johnson expressed how she felt plainly with the statement, “I love this class!” She said that it grants a lot of involvement in what is going on in the school and that’s one of her favorite parts of the class.
Students might be interested in this class if they wish to enter the field of news reporting, because of the experiences it gives Every class isn’t perfect though, unfortunately there is a downside.
When asked senior Curtis Schmitt what he’d change he only had this to say, “The cameras are terrible and 13 years old, the tech seriously sucks,” he said.
Overall, this is a great class offering tons of experience, but has the downside of outdated tech. This is a great class and a wonderful opportunity for any student interested in news.
Students said Weeks stated the hardest part of being in broadcasting is the pressure, “They are the only class that is judged daily,” she said.
All your peers see you give news every day, but this adds to the experience of reporting news in the field.
