How to have fun at prom!

Have you ever been to prom before? Not many of us have, but then again a decent amount of us have had the luxury.

Prom is usually a once in a lifetime thing and you want to have as much fun as possible while there. Especially if you only go once! Though, do you really know how to have fun? Here are five tips to help you improve your prom experience.

  • Just roll with it. Don’t have any expectations when at the before parties or when walking through the door or even at the after parties. If you set expectations for yourself and they’re not met, you’re going to be disappointed in how things go. Whereas, if you go in with no expectations aside from making it one of the best nights of your life, it will be one of the best nights of your life. So, don’t let what others say (about what should happen at prom and the parties) get in the way of you having the best night of YOUR life. Many of us only go to prom once, so make it a good once in a lifetime memory.
  • Take as many pictures as possible. This should go without being said. It’s a night where all of the ladies out there feel like princesses all dolled up in their gowns with their hair and makeup done and all of the gentleman look like princes escorting their princess to the formal ball. Don’t miss out on any pictures. It’s not every night that you get to look and feel like a prince/princess. Take advantage of the moment and take all of the picture that you can so you can look back on the moment and remember how good you felt that night.
  • Ladies, go anywhere and everywhere to find a dress. Don’t think you can only walk into one store and get your dress from that store. Go to as many stores as possible until you fall in love with the dress that you put on. You have to absolutely fall in love with it or it is NOT the dress for you. Go with friends to, have fun with it. Try on dresses that you don’t think that you’d ever wear! Completely out of the box dresses because you never know, it may look better on you than just on the hanger and it could be the one. So, don’t just stop at one. Visit multiple stores, take pictures so you can look back at them (in case you need to go back to a store), brings friends, and have fun!
  • Do a promposal- whether it’s to a friend or an actual date. Promposals are one of the most exciting parts of prom. Go all out with it for whomever you’re taking. If it’s someone close to you, relate it to them – they’ll love it. Very rarely do people ever say no to a promposal. If you ask a friend, you’re allowing yourself leeway and won’t be dictated by someone who may or may not like and may not even talk to after a couple of years. If you bring an actual date, just remember to have fun with it and socialize with other people than only your date. If things go wrong in the future, you don’t want to look back at prom and only think of the one person because they’re the only one you talked to at prom. Moral: Be social.
  • Everyone secretly loves prom. Even if you’re not the formal type of person, dresses or tuxedos aren’t you things, go to prom. It’s a once in a lifetime experience that you can’t go back and relive. You don’t have to stay at the Showplace for long, just experience the bare minimum that you can. Hang out with friends before, go to the event, even if you don’t go to an after party, at least hang out with a couple of friends for the night and laugh as much as you can. Don’t be the person in the corner who, because you didn’t want to go in the first place, purposely makes yourself miserable. It’s not worth the amount of money you spent to go. Have the time of your life.

When you’re just about ready for prom and are possibly starting to get butterflies in your stomach because you’re worried about how the night is going to go – just remember that this is one of the last times that you’re going to see a lot of these people so don’t be afraid to be yourself. Thus, at prom, roll with it, take tons of pictures, make the best of it, make memories, be yourself, and most of all just have fun!
