Top places to hang out in Downtown Milford

Cortney Maser and James Thomason

  1. If there is one thing you need to understand about Jimmy John’s, it’s that you can eat for free basically. It’s called 75 cent loaves of bread and water. However, if you’re not a totally broke teenager it can be a great place to grab a bite. The subs are great and relatively healthy compared to other downtown options. It’s also not a bad place to sit down considering most customers are in and out.
  2. So many options for summer adventures can be found within Kensington. You  can go to the beach with friends, or take a date to watch a sunset. Stargazing is another wonderful adventure you could take. There are multiple trails you could bike, run, or go for walks on. So, if you fancy some quality time among the trees this summer Kensington is the place for you.
  3. Starbucks! Who doesn’t like overly priced caffeinated drinks that boost your social status? In all honesty it is a great place to relax with friends, and talk. Also many people overlook the fact that they have a variety of snacks and quite a few healthy options. It’s also an easy stop to incorporate into your daily travels, or downtown plans.
  4. After Starbucks, it’s always nice to take a moment and sit but Milford’s very own waterfall. A great place if you’re looking to relax or just chat with a friend. The feature levels of seating by the benches also provides a level of privacy and space that Starbucks doesn’t allow.  Not a premiere place to spend your entire day, but a great place to take a moment before moving on.
  5. Now Central Park is the place to be, let me tell you. Not only do you have the park for parents to let their children waste energy so they’ll pass out on the ride home, you have a picnic area to chill with friends, and open land to play catch or throw frisbees. Then, on top of all of that, there are basketball courts and a beach volleyball court (not pictured). Central park also lines the beautiful Huron River where kayakers/canoers will travel and sometimes end their adventure.
  6. Also what lies in Central Park of Milford is the LaFontaine Family Amphitheater.  One of the most beautiful areas in Milford. It’s great for just sitting and relaxing with friends. The well kept grass is wonderful for hanging around. It’s also a mainly quiet place for your high school or college students who want to hold a study group, it’d be a perfect place to go. It’s also beautiful for photography, who doesn’t love a pretty picture. Come on.
  7. Almost to our last stop we have the gazebo in between the bank and the toy shoppe. Here there isn’t much to look at, but again, it’s a quiet place to hang with friends. Also, many times over the summer (and throughout the school year, if we’re lucky) the Milford High School choir will do some performances for the pedestrians to enjoy the beautiful streets of Downtown Milford. So if you’re looking for a little entertainment or just a place to “chillax” for a bit, this is the place for you!
  8. Last, but definitely not least, we have Milford House Ice Cream. After a long walk through the town who wouldn’t want to stop and relax with some ice cream? I know I definitely would. Just wind down for the bit of the evening you have left, cherish the moments you have made while exploring the beautiful town of Milford, and enjoy some nice cool ice cream.
