Outdoorsman Club back at MHS

Do you like the outdoors? Do you count down the days until deer season begins? Do you spend your summer days out on a lake fishing? Well then there is a new club at Milford High School for you.

Juniors Luke Krzyzak and Gavin Gardner have always loved the outdoors, and were motivated over this past summer to make a club for people like them. “We want to bring people together who have the same interests as us” said Gardner.

Throughout their freshman and sophomore years, Gardner and Krzyzak wanted to join clubs at Milford, but no club was interesting to them.

“When you look at all of the clubs here, they are all indoors. They all involve technology and sitting in front of screens. We wanted to change that.” said Gardner.

When hearing about how Milford used to have an Outdoorsman club, both were motivated to remake it. “We [Milford] had it in the past and wanted to revive it” said Krzyzak.

Both Krzyzak and Gardner love fishing, hunting, kayaking and just enjoying nature, and want to make a community of people who enjoy similar things.

With this club, members should expect fishing tournaments, seminars, training, canoe and kayak expeditions, and optional volunteer work at local metroparks.

Both Gardner and Krzyzak were inspired to get the ball rolling and hope that this club can evolve into something more. “Lakeland has a fishing team,” said Gardner “and if we have enough people, we would like to make a fishing team here at Milford too”.

The club has already held two meetings, but they are still accepting students who want to join.
