Students ready for a long anticipated summer!
May 29, 2018
With June 15 drawing near, many students are excited for summer vacation to begin, and to be free until they have to come back in the fall. Although, when summer begins, what exactly do students do during their time off?
“Chill” is the word that comes to mind for junior Cat Saylor, who also likes camping and swimming. Something she’s looking forward to is “Going up north with my family,” said Saylor. “Keeping my savings account high, [and] getting it to 3,000 dollars,” is her summer goal. Saylor doesn´t work anywhere yet, but she plans on going downtown in Milford, and having sleepovers with friends. Homework, is something she’ll be happy to leave during this summer. On her spare time she likes knitting, drawing, and painting.
Haley Angele, a junior, calls summer ¨exhausting.¨ She doesn’t really like the sticky weather. Whats on her bucket list is “meeting my favorite drummer, Dan Pawlovich,” who she hopes to meet when she sees Panic! At The Disco. She may also be going up north. She also hopes to acomplish,“Finishing any AP Psych homework I have, Throwing my niece the best birthday ever, and working on improving my spanish.” She plans on hanging down town with friends, and working where her dad works, at a local grocery store. Something Angele is glad to leave in the dust is going to bed early, and waking up early. Something she loves to do on her spare time is making art, practicing drums, and listening to music from: Mosey, Valencia, Panic! At The Disco, Fallout boy, and The Colourist.
“Warmth”, is what junior Thomas Feeley thinks about summer. What’s on his bucket list is to clean up his backyard. Feeley is looking forward visiting his sister in North Carolina. “Finishing my AP Bio homework,” is his summer goal. This summer, he’ll be planting Christmas trees. He’s happy to leave working at school in June. On Feeley’s spare time he likes to sleep, and Watch TV, with Agents Of Shield being one of his favorite shows.
“Freedom,” is what summer means for junior Shelby Taulbee. He’s looking forward to no school at all, and is ready to stay home in town. His goal this summer is to have no goals. Taulbee plans on playing games with friends, one game being “World Of Tanks.”
“Hot and Marching Band” are the two words that come upon junior Josh Vitale’s mind. “To not die during marching band,” Vitale exclaims, is on his bucket list. He’s looking forward to Marching Band, and plans on staying in town until otherwise. He also plans to go to Cedar Point where he will, “ride every single roller coaster — all of them.”He alsoplans on playing video games with friends. Over this summer, he’ll be working at Kroger. “Getting up at 5:40 in the morning, I won’t be doing that over the Summer,” Vitale said happily.
“Fun” is the word that sophomore Claire Richert thinks about with summer. On her bucket list is hanging out with friends at each other’s houses, going out to places, and shopping. She’s looking forward to going to Myrtle beach this summer with her dance team in July. She plans on going up north before going to Myrtle beach. “ We normally go up every year 4th of July weekend,” Richert says. She plans on having fun, doing well at nationals in South Carolina, and doing something every day of summer.Richert will be looking for a job this summer, and will be glad to leave homework in the dust.
“Outdoors and freedom” is what a Milford teacher, Senora Alfaro thinks about summer. She plans to,“go back to Costa Rica to actually finish my trip that I didn’t finish or go to Puerto Rico and help finish my mom’s house (which was damaged in last year’s hurricane).” Senora Alfaro is looking forward to visiting her girls at their homes, one in D.C and the other in California. She hopes to accomplish relaxation and to recharge. Senora plans on showing her family Michigan, going sightseeing and helping them know Michigan better. “Grading papers,” is something she’ll be happy to not do during the summer. On her spare time she likes to watch Netflix, some of her favorite shows being Stranger Things, Lost In Space, Jane The Virgin, and Grace and Frankie. The best part of summer for Senora may be to, “drive my camaro with the top down,” she said. And to “Work around the yard and play with my dog with his agility training,”
For every student and teacher, summer may mean different things, but one thing is clear. Everyone is ready for a break!
