Gone Girl Review
Imagine being in a movie theater for two and a half hours feeling beyond confused.Contrary to popular belief the movie ‘Gone Girl’ was terrible. I do not know how so many people have given positive reviews of the movie. The plot and overall theme of the movie was terrible. Only about five percent of the movie was actually decent.
Let’s start with the positive aspects within the film. First off the movie kept you on your toes the entire two and a half hours. The director of the movie was a credible one as well. David Fincher led the direction of the movie, he is known for movies such as “Fight club” and “The social network”. Also the actors in the film did perform very well. If the movie made any sense they would have possibly won an award. The main character of the movie, Ben Affleck did a great job in the movie, Rosamund Pike who played the antagonist portrayed herself as the genius/crazy wife. Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike deserve a round of applause for their tremendous effort displayed in Gone Girl to try and save the movie. Sadly they did not prevail.
Now to the larger portion of the review, here comes the negative side. Most importantly the plot made little to zero sense. I did not understand any of the movie, i was confused within the first 10 minutes of the movie. It starts off with this mans wife disappearing out of no where. Then Ben Affleck figures out the how/who/what happened to his wife. But by the end of the movie you never find out why. The plot is supposed to be the selling point, and the best part of a movie keeping the viewer interested. The movie was too long, there were about 30 minutes of unneeded scenes that could have simply been cut out, and the movie would still not make sense. The ending of the movie messes with your head. I don’t appreciate being messed with. If you somehow make it through the whole movie the ending will make you want to leave immediately. Only reason you should even think about going is if your girlfriend drags you there, and pays.
Overall I did not enjoy the movie. It was very, very confusing to me and made absolutely no sense. Although the actors did a good job playing in the rolls of whatever they were supposed to. Unfortunately the movie was not up to par with my expectations. To this day i still wonder how someone could produce this movie. At the end of the day the movie was ehhh.
