It was Crumbl’s birthday week –will they meet their fans’ expectations and take home the gold? Crumbl was founded in 2017 in Logan, Utah, and is known for its special trademark of having a new selection of cookies each week. The week of Sept. 23-29 continued on with the trend, with some returning fan favorites and new surprises as well.
The classics included a classic milk chocolate chip cookie with warm chocolate chips and a thick dough that melts in your mouth and a special edition birthday cookie, a moist spongy confetti cake with smooth delicate vanilla buttercream.
A crowd favorite, the Oreo milkshake, returned with a birthday twist of cream cheese frosting and rainbow sprinkles. Then there is the peanut butter ft:. Snickers with Caramel buttercream and topped with chunks of Snickers.
Additionally, they had a Caramel shortbread ft. Twix which takes the classical Twix flavor and turns it into a beautiful cookie. And last but not least, a crowd favorite, Crumbl’s OG cookie: the original pink sugar, which is nice and light tasting due to the use of almond flour and airy buttercream.
¨The peanut butter cookie was probably my favorite,” said Senior Claire Zawada. “I just really like peanut butter and chocolate together. It was super good. I liked the Oreo birthday cake cookie a lot too, but it was a little too sweet.”¨
While many opinions are forming about this week’s lineup, almost all of the feedback is positive. Crumbl releases five new cookies each week with one classic that is typically a crowd favorite.
Senior Ellie Nohovig said that even though there is a chocolate chip cookie every week she doesn’t get tired of it.
“Even though a lot of people think that it is unnecessary, and a waste of a new cookie flavor, I like that there is always a classic chocolate chip cookie I can look forward to without worrying about not liking it.” Crumbl occasionally makes slight tweaks to their original recipe, like switching out the regular chocolate chips for semi-sweet chips, chunks, or dark chocolate.“ It’s a classic– how could you not like it?” Nohovig asked. That reaction is why Crumbl leaves their classics on the menu.
Another fellow Senior at MHS Lilly Sharak said, “The confetti cake was really really good. I loved that the cookie was more of a cake than an actual cookie because the consistency of it was perfect. It was soft and spongy and literally perfect.” Sharak added, “The icing on top of it was good too because it wasn’t too much and there was some of it in the middle of the cake too.”
Crumbl recently added a mini cake to the weekly rotation. Every week there is also the option of buying a family-size version of their cakes that feeds around eight to twelve people.
Sharak did note, “I will say the frosting did taste a little like Play-Doh, which I thought was weird, but other than that everything was amazing.”
Flour, sugar, and eggs are the base for every cookie, a recipe that without fail delivers a warm cookie with minimal effort.
Crumbl takes their cookies to the next level by creating a new fun menu every week, leaving fans wanting more and lines forming around the block.
Happy seventh birthday Crumbl!
