Most people may assume that to be a player for the JV team you need to be a great athlete and that is important for the top players, but anyone can play for the JV team as long as they put in a good amount of effort and time into it.
“It takes aggression, effort, and a high pain tolerance,” said Sophomore James Thomason.
There are more than 35 players on the team and each has a chance to help the team in some capacity.
“It takes hard work and dedication,” said Blake Peterson and that’s something that makes this sport great.
This exciting and energetic sport is something worth playing, and when they play, it’s a pure adrenaline rush.
“I feel very aggressive when I play, it’s a very enjoyable sport,” said Thomason.
Peterson agreed that the emotion and adrenaline used in the sport makes it fun.
“I feel pumped up. Overall, it’s a great sport to play,” said Peterson. If one wants to be successful though, the sport does have its challenges. Players are required to go to workouts after school and train every day. These workouts consist of upper body strengthening along with lower body, arms and legs.
The workouts reduce the risk or injury and improve the ability of the players. Practices are every day after school; the practices improve skills by having players run the field. Seeing what skills they possess. The coaches either put players on the offense or the defense, depending on where they think they will be most effective.
Overall, everyone who plays enjoys it and most plan on continuing on to varsity next year.
“I like football because it’s just one of those sports that builds character,” said Peterson.
