MavBall has always been a great way for both students and teachers to take their problems out on each other by throwing balls at each other. Each MavBall team competes for the ever coveted wrench trophy that has been won by teams in years past. Many think MavBall is a great time, but who wouldn’t when you can; but you’re even encouraged to throw dodge balls at the teachers and other staff, as well as classmates. On February 18th, students and staff participated in a very anticipated, intense competition, MavBall 2015. All teams fought hard, however, only one came out on top. The team, “Make it Rain”, certainly made it rain on the competition, as they were the 1st place team, led by Ben Goedert, a sophomore at Milford High School. Goedert explains he led his team to success with his co-coach by using defensive aspects. By lining their players up in a well-thought out, and strategic way, they were able to make it to the top and win. “We used other players on our team as a type of shield.” Goedert explains. Players decided the team name “Make it rain”, and not only did they make it rain in the competition, but they also threw feux currency on their teammates, as well as themselves, once they won. Goedert explains that the best part about being a coach is the ability to “build strong relationships with the players.” Don’t think that this team is done competing now that they’ve won. “This is only the beginning”, says Goedert. “Watchout next year, we’re taking the same approach, and we’re coming atcha’.” “All Balls, No Dodge” came in a close second. A player Johnny Sposita says, “we came in second, but we had tons of fun. It’s too bad it’s going to be my last year. MavBall is something I will never forget.”
