The Milford Girls Varsity Ski Team has been successful this season with many wins and outstanding performances from the skiers.

The weather has not always cooperated, but the skiers this year have done a good job winning multiple meets. The team had recent wins over Hartland and West Bloomfield with outstanding performances by senior Natalie Kerwin, who took first place in both meets.

Kerwin has been named Oakland County Athlete of the Week.

Kerwin is one of the top skiers in the state this year. Kerwin has won many races and has been very focused her senior year.

“I feel very honored and I never thought I would get this,” said Kerwin. She has been skiing since she was 3 and started competing when she was 7 and has been  focused this year.

“ I’ve had many people help me get to this point: family, friends, coaches, and teachers. I hope to keep staying successful this season,” she said

This season Kerwin has won 7 out of 8 races this season.

Kerwin hopes to attend either Michigan State or Indiana University to get a degree in journalism to become a sports reporter one day.

Kerwin has an opportunity to ski at the college of Idaho but is still figuring it out.

“The support system I have around really motivates me to be the best skier I can be.”
