Girls basketball beats Grand Blanc, finishes in fifth

Milford girls varsity basketball finished its KLAA season in fifth place with an overall record of  7-10 after beating Grand Blanc and losing to Pinckney last week.

Milford started off their season strong with 4 wins in its first 6 games. “We built teamwork and made great memories,” said Senior Gianna Seets. “We learned to stay positive and I am thankful to be on a fun and memorable team for my last season at Milford.”

On Feb. 6, the Milford girls varsity beat Grand Blanc, 35-33. Milford led led during the half,16-12.

Milford played a close game with Grand Blanc and had many contributions from the team, including from Brynne Gustafson, Allison Smith, and Mallory Barrett. Barrett had 10 points , Smith had many rebounds and steals to end the game, and Gustafson started off the game strong.

Milford played Grand Blanc earlier in this season in January and beat them, 48-45, so they swept the Bobcats for the year.

Last week, Milford lost both games it played. The team hosted Brighton and lost 48-28.Barrett had 9 points, Smith had 8 points, and Gustafson had 4.

Milford played at Pinckney on Feb. 12, losing 45-36.

Districts will be hosted at Milford and the first game will be on Feb. 29. and the second will be on March 2.

“[We are] hoping we are successful in districts, seeing we have had a good season so far”, Said Senior Hannah Paulczak.
