On Monday, October 30th the Detroit Lions took on the Las Vegas Raiders in prime-time Monday night football, and with the whole country watching the Lions balled out. Beating the Raiders 24-16 the Lions were able to advance their record up to 6-2 the second-best in the NFC behind only the 7-1 Eagles. The Lions put up a defensive clinic preventing Las Vegas from advancing through the air and the ground with Lion’s defense making many critical 3rd down plays to help force the Raider’s offense off the field. The Lions were able to total 6 sacks on the day and gave a lot of frustration to the Raiders offensive line. The Lions were able to hold the Raider’s offense to a total of 80 yards on the ground on 18 attempts. As mentioned earlier the Raiders also struggled to move the ball through the air totaling only 126 yards thrown through the air by Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Garoppolo had an interception on the day and only completed 10/21 passes and had a total QBR on the day of 51.92. His performance was so bad the Raiders announced that as of this writing, he is no longer the starter for the team. Part of this problem was caused by the Lion’s lockdown secondary only allowing star receiver Devante Adams to 11 yards on one catch causing lots of frustration on the Raider’s sideline. The Raiders team performed so badly that their head coach Josh McDaniels was actually fired following the conclusion of the game. On the other side of the ball, the Lions were able to run for 222 yards on the ground almost tripling the Raider’s 80 as well as move the ball efficiently and effectively threw the air for 272 yards on over 70% completion rate. Quarterback Jared Goff had almost double Gorappolo’s QBR at 96.27 for the night. Overall a great performance from the Lions and Detroit fans have a lot to cheer for and look forward to for the upcoming weeks and months to come.
