This year’s ski season has begun and the Milford High School girls ski team has high hopes for this 2024 winter season. Their season runs from October of 2023 until February of 2024. The team begins conditioning in October, followed by practicing without gates in November and practicing with gates/racing in January. This year, there are a total of 11 girls on the MHS ski team. Many members of this team have strong goals for the season. “The goal for the girls’ team is to place 1st at divisionals, 1st at LVC, top 3 at Regionals, top 5 at SEMSL, and top 6 for States,” stated senior Ellie DeYoung.”I want the team to be successful, but most of all, I want us to have fun and make amazing memories.” The teams first meet was supposed to be January 9th, however, due to lack of snow, the race was canceled. DeYoung also has an individual goal when it comes to this year’s season. “My personal goal for the season is to maintain placing top 3 at races. If I can, I’d love to take first.” The State Finals Championship is Feb. 26 at 9am. The girls MHS ski team puts in lots of effort to obtain shining results. The outcomes for this team are looking extremely bright this year.
