If you don’t mind laughing until your stomach aches, and crying from pure laughter, 21 and Over is a fantastic film for you. From partying until the break of dawn and having original scenes that will leave anyone laughing hysterically on the floor, 21 and Over is a great comedy for mature audiences, due to offensive language, sexual content, and nudity. Miles Teller, a supporting actor in the movie Project X, showcases his brilliant talent, playing a college drop-out who looks forward to getting his best friend in trouble with the tap, interfering with his friend’s job interview the next morning.
The movie starts out with Miles Teller and Skyler Austin (Pitch Perfect supporting actor), in the back of a taxi cab on the way to visit their best friend, Jeff Chang, for his 21st birthday. We know him as Justin Chon, a supporting actor in the Twilight Saga. Mr. Chang, Jeff Chang’s father, has planned a medical interview for Jeff’s future and doesn’t plan on Jeff’s idiot friends ruining it. But Miles Teller doesn’t agree. “You’re my baby tonight, and I’m going to make sure nothing happens to you.” Miles Teller states sarcastically.
The Rotten Tomato gave 21 and Over underrated reviews with a rating of a horrid 31%. This is an outrageous rating! This movie, from the writers of The Hangover, was just as entertaining, if not better than the Hangover! Its memorable scenes and hilarious footage separates itself from memorable comedies. Once again, another underrated review given by ScreenRant, with a rating of 2.5 out of 5. Critics exercise their opinions beyond what their limit should be now a days. Their pessimistic views offer no chance for a movie to shine it’s true glory.
Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, directors and screenplay, created one of the ultimate hilarious movies, that consists of originality and outrageous scenes. With Justin Chon completely under the influence on a mechanical bull, launching bile from his stomach, all while in slow motion, originality is not an issue. In comparison to huge box office movies such as Project X, The Hangover, and Superbad, this movie holds it’s own, if not stepping on the others. This movie deserves some credit, and it’s not getting any from its audiences. Look past your egos and try to see the movie for what it is.
Call a few buddies, and bust out the popcorn and candy, because this movie is a gut wrenching comedy that will leave you laughing for hours.
