The tennis team is a great way to make friends and get exercise! There are about 30 girls in the program. “The girls are great. They’re all like big sisters to me and I’m having a lot of fun this year despite the weather!” said Paulina Parr a freshman on the varsity team.
Starting the season in rainy spring has been trouble in the past but this year the weather not only consisted of rain but also snow! “It’s been chaotic with the weather,” said Kynast. Matches and practices have to be canceled when the courts are wet.
Milford has had a great year so far; “We’ve had a couple nice wins” said Kynast. The most recent tennis match was Thursday, May 1st, against South Lion with Milford winning 8-3! As the schedule looks, they should have a chance to win a whole bunch of matches this year.
Shannon Parr, a junior, is the number one singles player, her job is to play everybody else’s very best player.
Chloe Gordan is a junior captain, the number one doubles player, and has shown great strength in leadership this year.
Their biggest competition isLakelandbecause of the girls knowing each other andLakelandbeing the rival school.
The tennis season goes by fast, only lasting about 2 1/2 months!
If you are interested in joining tennis, you should go watch a match or tournament!
