Picking classes for the upcoming school year can always be a hassle or a bit unsettling if you have nobody to tell you what classes they categorize as great or not so great…
So this year, the Milford Messenger will give you a piece of advice for picking the best classes next year, coming from your very own classmates. From Center Stage Choir as a freshman to Current Global Issues as a Senior, students tell you their favorite classes and their recommendations.
Picking classes as a freshman may be relatively easy because there are fewer options than every other year, but then again, there are many options to choose from such as Online Health. During Online Health, students will study the different types of health and well-being to follow through with making good life decisions. Freshman, Sam Appleyard recommends AP Human Geography to incoming freshmen. As for her AP classes next year, she says, “I plan on continuing the track I was on. The advice I would give to incoming freshmen is to take as many AP classes because they’re hard, but they pay off in the end.”
Sophomore Conner Jensen focused more on getting the credits he needed as a freshman and figuring out what classes he needed to take in his high school career before graduating. He enjoyed taking American Sign Language this year because although it’s difficult, he enjoyed it.
Carly Apple stated that the best part about scheduling for sophomore year was how many more opportunities there were compared to freshman year. As a sophomore, Creative Writing 1 is available which includes exploring forms of poetry, short stories, drama, and journals as students start to experience their favorite writings and personal style.
Putting together the yearbook as a junior is actually a class! If photography, photo editing, page designing, and editing intrigue you, this class is for you; Students will also develop marketing skills while enrolled in Yearbook to advertise sell, and market the book. Also, juniors have the opportunity to apply marketing knowledge in the School Store during the day.
As a senior with only one year left and having most or all of your credits met, who wouldn’t want to pick fun electives? Along with many AP classes and numerous different options for each career pathway, senior year comes with more room to pick classes that fit your interests.
Whether it is Teacher Cadet (attending class sessions, and undergoing the membership of a teacher in a classroom), AP Psychology (learning about human behavior), or Leadership (spending time fundraising and doing community service projects), senior year is the last shot to take the classes that you want before your high school career comes to an end!
Signing up for classes from Play Production or Basic Car Care for Everyone, figuring out credits as a freshman, taking all AP classes freshman to senior year, or even a mix of all options, Milford High School has many great choices for choosing classes to benefit your future. Next year as a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior is guaranteed to be a great year. Make it the best one yet!
