Milford Maverick Football Team

Milford opened up their season against Churchill in a quick fashion as they jumped out to an early 14-0 lead, although they would soon find out that it was too good to be true. After jumping out to their 14-0 lead, they ended up surrendering 39 unanswered points and losing the game 39-14.

“We should have won that game” said Kevin Daucher, the senior right tackle for Milford.

Daucher went on to say that 5 turnovers and stalling in the redzone are the biggest reasons for the loss in their opening game.

“The junior class is very talented, unfortunately it is their first varsity experience” Head coach Tim Gough said.

This may have been a factor to why they gave up 49 unanswered points, not knowing how to control the lead after they had obtained it.

Milford had to forget the tough loss and head out to play at Livonia Franklin. Franklin who also started out 0-1 was also looking to come back and start with a win. After the first quarter featured no scoring, Franklin turned it up a notch. Finishing with over 400 yards rushing the ball, they scored 35 points in the other 3 quarters. Milford finished with a total of 169 yards compared to over 500 for Livonia Franklin.

After a rough game they had to quickly forget about this game and think ahead to very talented Grand Blanc team.

Grand Blanc has a fast pace offense and tries to keep the defense incapable of getting ready for the next play

Grand Blanc was able to do what they wanted and keep the pace fast, scoring 49 points against the Milford defense.

While the thought is never to start 0-3, it happens, and all they can do now is to try to bounce back against Hartland, a close rival, who is starting off the season a slow 1-2.

Milford has bright spots to their team, and need to utilize those.
