Miracles Really Do Come True
January 28, 2016
As the snowy season approaches we give thanks to all of the people and things we have this year. To recognize this appreciation, Milford High has this year’s Milford Miracles done and over with a major success. Mr. Gilbert expresses these results with a smile on his face as he explains the great significance that this year’s donations have impacted many families in our community.
Milford Miracles is a traditional charity fundraiser that started around 20 years ago. Last taken on by Ms. Alfaro, one of our Spanish teachers, this fundraiser has originally been led by prior Spanish teachers in the past.
Adopt a family is a community charity group that signs up families that struggle during this brittle season and raises money so the charity can take that money and go spend it on presents and other things that the families might need. Although this charity seems to be purely good, two men decided to raise money for the event one year. Thankfully caught by the local authorities, these men had no intentions to give the money away because they weren’t even apart of the charity! just goes to show what kind of people are truly out there.
“A Lot of kids live in their own bubble,” says Mr.Gilbert as he also explains that many students and young adults really don’t realize what’s really going around them; isn’t that the truth. Many students and families do not have a lot of the necessities that we need to survive these harsh winters. Beds, Clothes, winter coats, boots, mittens and more. Despite the trending incoherence, Mr. Gilbert is pleased to announce that this year was a success and is very happy with the results. Milford High also do things too that tie into giving instead of receiving. Can food drives lead by students and coat donations donated by students and teachers truly shows the true maverick spirit and most importantly shows that there really are miracles in the world.
