Before Milford High School students enter their 24-25 school year, the student section of the MHS Varsity Football team is already roaring, cheering, and screaming for their Mavericks this season.
From seniors to freshmen, the Mav Pack combines excitement with school spirit as the students show pride for their peers. From painting bodies fully colored to the theme with a paint brush, to going on amazon and ordering things for each theme, the student body at Milford High School has done it all.
The “Student Section Report”, a Student section ranker for every state in the US, shares their love for the section. “Mav Pack has displayed consistency on social media and with some more consistent posts of their school spirit, they may just end up as the best”
Currently ranking as the #1 student section in Michigan, the Mav Pack is excited for their season. No matter how far the Mavericks travel, the student section follows with endless support.
Each game away, or home is given a designated theme for students, family, and even sideline cheer, or pom to participate in. With the number of games throughout the season, the Leadership class works hard to pick themes to engage the Pack all season long. Some themes include the USA, country, pink out (cancer awareness), black out, neon out, frat out, and more! Doing this exemplifies the spirit for the school with students coming up with all sorts of creative attire
Senior Tessa Koshkarian, one of four Mav Pack leaders, explains, “The motivation at games really comes from the crowd. Doing more chants encourages them and shows them how much we carry our support for the players–win or lose.” The Pack not only encourages the players, but they bring the energy back into the crowd. With the help of the MHS cheerleaders, the Pack does chants engaging every grade. With the variety of chants and moments in every game, each game creates special memories for Mavericks.
Although football season brings out the biggest crowds, the Pack still carries their support for other sports. Some of these include volleyball and basketball. Senior Kara Dividock, a member of the Varsity Volleyball team explains, “There’s just a different feeling about having a whole crowd behind you and knowing they’re there. Not just that, it makes you feel so special when the whole Pack is cheering you on as a whole.”
Student section leaders Charlie Jacob, Tessa Koskarian, Natalie Melody, and Aiden McCormick engage Milford students and encourage them to raise the level of energy for the players. “It’s fun to include each grade level and it’s a great social activity for the whole school,” senior Charlie Jacob says.
The spirit from the crowd gets our guys pumped up, “even if we are down they keep our spirits high”, Senior Jack Stine explains, “The energy from that part of the field never fades”.
As the Mavericks have successfully started their season the Pack continues to support them in every game. The Mavs spirit, pride, and enjoyment pumps them up for future events and the rest of the school year.
