Summer vacation was a long time coming for many Milford High School students and staff members. It truly lived up to its expectations by giving an abundance of warm memories and experiences to this community. From international travel, to weekends up north, Milford students have done it all.
P.E. teacher Rick Wank had an entertaining trip to start the summer. In June, he spent a week in Disney World at the Riviera Resort with his wife and two children to celebrate the end of the school year. “We loved it because it was a hub to the skyliner, which made it easy to access Hollywood Studios and Epcot,” stated Wank.
He and his family had a great time enjoying the magic of Disney World. “I would recommend going at least once in your life. It was a really neat experience.” Although extremely busy, he was able to spend quality time with his kids, giving them an unforgettable family vacation.
Senior Zarah Syed also took a plane with her family, but they left the country. “My dad surprised my brothers and I with a Royal Caribbean cruise through the Bahamas,” she stated.
The Syed family explored three different Bahamian islands over the course of a week.
She went on to describe her experience on the ship as a “well needed vacation” where she got to try numerous new things- some of them being extremely spontaneous. “We rented a golf cart to tour the island, but ran out of gas during a storm and had to push the cart all the way back. We were soaked but it was so funny; that was definitely a highlight of the trip,” said Syed.
Finding joy in the chaos and the unexpected is a huge part of what makes travel so beautiful. In contrast, it can also provide the opportunity to rest and relax.
Freshman, Brielle Stankov, spent a handful of weekends unwinding and taking in her summer break at Sage Lake. Stankov and her family spend as much time as they can at their friends’ lake during the warmer months.
“We are basically always up there,” says Stankov. She spends a lot of her time up north going tubing, swimming at their sandbar, and playing volleyball in the yard. Stankov states, “I play with my friend Ava; she’s on the freshman volleyball team with me too”
The girls spent their break having fun in their home-state, and getting to spend time with family and friends.
Summer break provides opportunities for students and staff alike to create memories that will last a lifetime. “My trip was really memorable because it was the first time in a while that my entire family got to enjoy a week of free time while staying unplugged,” stated Syed.
